Race Distances

Super Sprint Triathlon

The Super Sprint is a traditional entry point to the sport of triathlon, offering a perfect introduction for true beginners. This distance, popular worldwide, allows athletes to experience the excitement of triathlon with a manageable challenge. The race consists of a 400m swim, a 9.2km ride, and a 2.5km run. Participants often find that this fast-paced format ignites a passion for the sport, whether they choose to progress to longer distances or enjoy the thrill of short, intense races.

Teaser Triathlon

The Teaser distance is designed for new triathletes and weekend warriors eager to give triathlon a try. Suitable for ages 12 and up, this event offers separate waves for adults and juniors, fostering a friendly and supportive atmosphere. With a 250m swim, a 6.4km ride, and a 2km run, this race is ideal for those looking to dip their toes into the sport without the commitment of a longer event. It’s a great way to get the blood pumping and experience the camaraderie of the triathlon community.

Junior Triathlon

The Juniors distance is tailored specifically for young athletes aged 10 to 14 years old. Featuring a 100m swim, a 4.6km ride, and a 1km run, this race presents a fun and achievable challenge for kids of all fitness levels. It serves as an excellent entry point into multisport, offering a taste of competition and a chance to develop new skills. Course Overview

Swim

Participants will start in the pool at Stromlo Leisure Centre, organised into starting waves. On ‘go’, swimmers will navigate around swim buoys, simulating open water conditions in an M shape. Exiting the water via a ramp, they will run to transition 1 (T1), where they will switch to their cycling gear.

Bike

After changing, athletes will push their bikes to the mount line, where they can begin riding. The course takes them down the hill and onto the criterium track. They will follow signs, passing transition 2 (T2) and start counting laps. Once the required laps are completed, riders will dismount before the dismount line and enter T2 to rack their bikes and prepare for the run.

Run

Leaving T2, participants will head onto the cross-country course, following signs for their distance. They will run on the world-class Rob de Castella grass track. Following the signs up the chute to the finish line, they will receive their finisher medal and enjoy the glory of completing the race.
