The ACT Triathlon Interclub Series highlights the spirit of friendly competition among clubs across Canberra, fostering a community-centered approach to triathlon. The series rewards clubs for their participation, performance, and community involvement throughout the season, culminating in the crowning of the annual Interclub Champion.
How the Interclub Points System Works:
1. Event Participation:
- Every club member who completes an eligible event earns points for their club.
- Points are awarded based on participation, encouraging maximum involvement from clubs.
2. Performance Points:
- Points are awarded to athletes based on their finishing position within their age group. The point allocation for each event is as follows:
- 1st: 5 points
- 2nd: 4 points
- 3rd: 3 points
- 4th: 2 points
- 5th: 1 point
- 6th-9th: 0.5 points
- The more athletes a club has finishing at the top of their respective divisions, the more points they can accumulate.
3. Volunteer Points:
- Clubs can also earn additional points for providing volunteers at events. Volunteers, including Technical Officials, must register through TACT’s volunteer management platform and nominate their club. Each volunteer receives one point per event, which is added to the club’s total before dividing by the number of registered athletes.
- Each volunteer receives one point per event, which is added to the club’s total before dividing by the number of registered athletes.
4. Special Events:
- Points will be collected at the following major events:
- Capital Duathlon
- Challenge Canberra
- Jackie Fairweather Memorial Triathlon
- Race 1 and 2 of Swim Run Series
- Race 3 of the Swim Run Series (ACT Aquathlon Championships) – This event will offer double points, making it a critical race for clubs seeking to secure their position at the top of the standings.
- The Overall Club Champion Award is determined by the average points per registered athlete within each club. This total is calculated by combining all points earned through participation and performance, and dividing by the total number of registered athletes in the club.
- Only athletes registered as Aus Triathlon ‘basic’ members and above will be factored into the calculations for the Overall Club Champion Award.
Awards & Recognition:
- The club with the highest points total at the end of the season will be named the ACT Triathlon Interclub Champion.
- Trophies and recognition will be presented at the annual awards night, honouring clubs for their achievements in both competition and community engagement.
