A new chapter in Canberra’s triathlon history was written this past weekend as the city welcomed back long course racing with the successful inaugural Challenge Canberra. ACT Triathlon is proud to celebrate the return of this thrilling endurance event, thanks to the vision and effort of renowned local triathlon figure, Corey Bacon.
The shores of Lake Burley Griffin transformed into a hive of athletic prowess as professionals and age-groupers alike tackled the swim, bike, and run courses. It was a showcase of determination and sportsmanship, with Daniel Bækkegård and Els Visser taking the crown in their respective categories.
This event marks a significant milestone for ACT Triathlon, highlighting the vibrant triathlon scene in our capital and our commitment to hosting world-class events. It’s been a collaborative journey, with the tireless work of Corey Bacon and the local triathlon community bringing long course racing back to the heart of Canberra. Their dedication has not only provided an exceptional race experience but also solidified Canberra’s position on the global triathlon map.
ACT Triathlon extends a heartfelt congratulations to all participants who crossed the finish line, embodying the spirit of endurance that our community cherishes. To the volunteers, sponsors, and spectators who cheered every stroke, pedal, and stride – your support was the pulse of this event’s success.
