ACT MOV3 Junior Program 2026

Mov3 is a fun and inclusive junior program designed for kids aged 8–12 years who are ready to get active, build skills, and gain confidence across swimming, riding, and running. Mov3 combines training with fundamental movement development, helping young participants grow into capable and confident individuals – all while having fun!

Program Overview

  • Age group: 8–12 years
  • Term length: 7 weeks (2 sessions per week) + optional pre-race support for the Canberra Kids Triathlon (19 April)
  • First Session: 13 February

Two coached sessions per week:

  • Fridays, 4:00–5:00pm – Swim session at Stromlo Leisure Centre
  • Saturdays, 3:00–4:00pm – Run/Ride/Transition session at Stromlo Forest Park (Crit Track)

Sessions are led by Cheryl Hulskamp, an experienced Level 2 Development Coach who’s passionate about helping kids gain skills, confidence and love of triathlon. Learn more at coachhulskamp.com.au/about.

Program Cost

  • $200 for the 7-week program (18 coached sessions)
  • $47 Mid-season AusTriathlon non-club junior membership $0 if already a member
  • Pool entry additional: ~$6.57 per session (Free with Belgravia Leisure membership)

Registration Includes

By signing up for Mov3, participants receive:

  •  Professionally coached sessions (2 x 60-minute sessions per week for 7 weeks)
  • Skill development across three sports – swimming, cycling, and running – with an emphasis on confidence, enjoyment, and physical literacy.

What Makes Mov3 Unique

  • Focus on effort, enjoyment, and confidence rather than competition
  • Development of fundamental movement skills including balance, coordination, jumping, and agility
  • Delivered in a supportive, inclusive environment that encourages leadership and peer connection
  • Builds confidence to try new sports and tackle physical challenges
  • Aims to instil a lifelong love of active living

This is the perfect program for kids looking to move, grow, and have fun, regardless of their sporting background.

The optional pre-race session is intended as a confidence and familiarity check-in, rather than a training session, and would focus on:

  • course familiarisation

  • transition walk-throughs

  • basic bike safety checks

  • answering questions and reducing race-day nerves

This structure allows the core learning phase to finish before the Easter holidays, while still providing light-touch support heading into race day.

What You Need

For Friday Swim Sessions (Stromlo Leisure Centre):

  • Goggles
  • Fins
  • Kickboard
  • Pull buoy

For Saturday Ride/Run Sessions (Stromlo Forest Park):

  • A working bike (any type: mountain, hybrid, or road – all welcome)
  • A helmet (must meet AS/NZS 2063:2020 standards)
  • Running shoes (no need for clipless pedals or cycling shoes)

Where Does It Lead To?

What each participant gets out of the program is entirely up to them and their family. Mov3 provides an inclusive and supportive environment where kids can learn skills, grow in confidence, and build a foundation for lifelong participation in sport and active living – without the pressure of competition.
