Event Overview
The Jackie Fairweather Memorial Triathlon is one of the premier events on the ACT Triathlon calendar. Returning to the stunning Black Mountain Peninsula. This race is more than competition it’s a tribute to Jackie Fairweather: world champion triathlete, duathlete, Commonwealth Games marathon medallist, and a leader in Australian high-performance sport. Jackie’s legacy continues to inspire athletes across Canberra and beyond, and this event celebrates her enduring contribution to our community.
As the 2025 ACT Sprint Championships, this event attracts competitors of all levels—from first-time triathletes to seasoned athletes vying for titles. It features Sprint, Super Sprint, Aquabike, and Kids categories, ensuring a race for everyone.
Importantly, the Sprint Triathlon also serves as a World Championships Qualification Event (WQE), giving top performers the chance to secure their place at the 2026 World Triathlon Championships in Pontevedra, Spain. More information about the 2026 Age Group Qualifying events is available here

Race Options
- Sprint Triathlon WQE (Non-Draft Legal): 750m Swim / 20km Bike / 5km Run
- Super Sprint Triathlon (Non-Draft Legal): 250m Swim / 10km Bike / 2.5km Run
- Aquabike (Non-Draft Legal): 750m Swim / 20km Bike
- Kids Triathlon (Ages 7–12): 100m Swim / 1.4km Bike / 1km Run
All Kids finishers will receive a medal.

Course Details
- Swim: Shallow water starts. Super Sprint athletes swim 250m (out to buoy and back). Sprint and Aquabike athletes complete the full 750m loop.
- Bike: Out-and-back course along Lady Denman Drive, with laps depending on race distance (2 laps for Super Sprint / 3 laps for Sprint & Aquabike).
- Run: Peninsula footpath loop. Super Sprint (1 lap – 2.5km), Sprint (2 laps – 5km). Aquabike concludes after the bike leg.
- Kids Course: 100m out-and-back swim, 1.4km bike within the peninsula, 1km out-and-back run to the finish.

Please note: Due to road closures in place, participants can only leave the venue after the 9:00 AM.
Key Information
The Sprint Triathlon is a selection race for the Australian Age Group Multisport & Triathlon Team. Athletes must hold a Relevant Triathlon Australia membership to earn selection points.

ACT Triathlon Refund and Postponement Policy
Refund Policy
- Cancellations more than 6 weeks (42 days) from the event: Full refund.
- Cancellations between 6 weeks (42 days) and 2 weeks (14 days) from the event: 50% refund.
- Cancellations within 2 weeks (14 days) of the event: 20% refund.
Please note that as a non-profit organisation, operational costs are incurred before the event. If you withdraw, these costs are absorbed by ACT Triathlon.
Postponement Policy
In the unlikely event that the Race Directors determine that the event cannot take place due to safety concerns or circumstances beyond our control (e.g., pandemic, severe weather, force majeure, etc.), all participants will have their race registration automatically moved to the rescheduled event date.
Alternatively, for postponement-related reasons:
- Participants can transfer their entry to another participant for the rescheduled event.
- Participants can receive a 50% refund if advised in writing to director@act.triathlon.org.au within 60 days of the event cancellation. If not advised within 60 days, no refund will be given.
In addition, participants acknowledge that they will have no claim against the event organisers for any loss or damage due to such postponement.
